Note: both an .install and a .module file need to be present.

Changing the install function in an .install file between an initial enable and an uninstall appears to make Drupal go crazy.

Getting image uploads in wysiwyg

As of 11/18/2010:

Install 6.x-2.0-alpha1 instead of normal version of jquery_update

jquery ui 1.7.2 plugin for the jquery_ui.

Make sure it’s named “jquery.ui” when uploaded. If it doesn’t show up as clickable in the “modules” list make sure that it’s named correctly and that it uploaded completely and correctly.

Make sure to select one of the IMageAPI modules. Then go to edit the input format (may be admin/settings/wysiwyg/profile/1/edit) and check the “image upload” box for “buttons and appearance”

Setting up Drupal on MT GS

SSH in as serveradmin@XXXX – a normal “email user” can’t access the /domains directory
http://knol.google.com/k/michael-chelen/how-to-install-drupal-and-drush/gxxp1ckx8nad/5# cd to /domains directory and then run the first two steps (download, extract) to set up Drush.
This will have created a subdirectory in the /domains/ directory called “drush”.
Go into (or create) the /users/.home/ directory and create a .bash_profile file. Put in this code: alias drush=’/usr/bin/php5 /home/SITE_NUMBER/domains/drush/drush.php’
Note: this is not inside the /home/XXXX/data/users directory – rather it is inside the /home/XXXX/users directory
Log out of SSH, log back in as serveradmin@XXX again
Cd to the new site in question (let’s call it “/domains/newsite”).
run”drush dl drupal”. This will install it into a /drupal x.x/ directory. Delete the /html/ directory and rename this new /drupal x.x/ directory to /html/
Continue with normal Drupal install.

notes to self about using Drush

Download Drush
Extract zip
upload unzipped files into /usr/local/lib/drush
Note: this means unzip the file into /usr/local/lib, as the .zip creates the “drush” folder upon extraction.
ssh into the box
create alias with the command ln -s /usr/local/lib/drush/drush /usr/local/bin/
navigate to the site root
drush ––help, etc
Note: if you get a “permission denied” statement then 777 the /usr/local/bin/drush directory
Note: if “PHP safe mode is activated…” then the only way to resolve this is by modifying the global php.ini file for the server.

To use drush to update core files (minor revision): good comment here, but it’s out of date http://drupal.org/upgrade#comment-1593136

drush dl
Note: drush should have downloaded the new core files to the site root, rather than what the commenter said
rsync rltD drupal-XXXXX/ .
Note: if rsync isn’t present then run apt-get install rsync
drush updatedb
drush update <- and check to make sure that the Drupal version has successfully registered as the new version
After each “drush update” command, run “drush updatedb” to see if any new module needs to have the database updated.

If getting “Fatal Error: Memory Exceeded” when running simple commands, then add a line like
ini_set(‘memory_limit’,’150M’);
at the bottom of the

Integrating FCKEditor Notes

Just because integrating FCKEditor is such a pain, I want to have these steps in place so I don’t forget them.

Upload module folder
Enable module
For each content type that has a text body that’s going to use the FCKEditor:
- Make it “filtered html”

Set the “input filter” otherwise any special html characters will be stripped out.

/admin/settings/filters/
Probably admin/settings/filters/1/configure

For each text body I don’t want to use the FCKEditor:

Disable it by going to XXXXXXXXX

In permissions:

/admin/user/permissions

be sure to enable “access fckeditor”, “administer fckeditor”, “allow fckeditor file uploads”

Configure FCKEditor at

Configure FCKEditor at “admin/settings/fckeditor”

Profiles ->Advanced ->Edit

Basic Setup -> check all boxes appropriate

CSS ->Editor CSS -> define css

CSS -> CSS Path -> put in path to style sheet (e.g. /sites/all/themes/SITE/STYLE_SHEET.css)

File Browser Settings ->File browser type -> Built-in file browser

File Browser Settings ->Allow Quick Uploads -> True

To make the background not be an insane color:

Make sure CSS Path is set above correctly.

In that STYLE_SHEET.css put in a special ID tag with background of correct color

Example: #fck_editor{background-color:#FFFFFF;}

In sites/all/fckeditor/fckeditor/fckeditor.js

FCKConfig.BodyId = ‘fck_editor’ ; <- or whatever you named the ID tag in the step above.

To enable file upload for the FCKEditor:

2 files to modify

sites/all/modules/fckeditor/fckeditor/editor/filemanager/connectors/php/config.php

sites/default/settings.php

in settings.php modify set $cookie_domain = ‘WEBSITE_URL.com’;

Note to self – for some reason DW keeps on telling me it has successfully edited this file and uploaded it, but it constantly doesn’t overwrite the existing one on the server…

In my case using the MediaTemple account center file browser to edit the file works…

Create folders for FCKEditor to hold the uploaded items.

Probably: sites/default/files

Check in admin/settings/fckeditor/edit/Advanced ->file browser settings ->path to uploaded files

FCKEditor seems unable to make these folders automatically. Unsure why at this moment.

If a different path is specified in the FCKEditor preferences then make sure that folder exists.

Set filtering correctly for the input.

Steps for making URL aliases happen

Wipe out any existing aliases

admin/build/path/delete_bulk

choose “all aliases” probably… then delete.

Set up new aliases:

admin/build/path/pathauto

General ->Update action-> set to “Create a new alias. Leave the existing alias functioning.” (unless you really DO want to delete the old alias…)

General ->Maximum number of objects to alias in a bulk update: Set to maybe 500?

Note: could leave this low and just refresh this page a zillion times for a large site needing this done.

Node Path Settings – set the various paths to automatically happen

Node Path Settings – check the “Bulk generate aliases for nodes that are not aliased” box

Finishing moves:

admin/build/path/pathauto

General ->Update action-> set to “do nothing”

Go to the menu and make sure everything is okay

admin/settings/site-information: Make sure the homepage (default front page) settings are okay
